Norah and I spent a Sunday with Paul on his family run farm which is located in Southern Ontario, Canada around Langton. We got to meet his wife, young son and two cats while we were there. We were treated to lunch, a walk around his woodworking shop and a look at his large stockpile of domestic woods.

Rob DeFreitas from Bombora boards got into board building when he entered an Ontariolongboarding.com Grip Extravaganza contest hosted by Roarockit. He placed first and won the materials and tools to build his first board. Since then, his stylized wave logo has seen many a hill around Toronto, Ontario.

DKBL Dmitri Komarov
Dmitri, better known as Dimm is our first featured builder. He lives in Montreal, Canada. He is an engineering student at Concordia University. And without a doubt Dimm has an obsession with building longboards.
Michael has been our in house board builder at Roarockit for a number of years. The combination of his deck building talents and his graphic design background makes his decks very desirable. Michael is a Graphic Design graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. His boards can be seen on the walls of Bustin Boards (New York), Longboard living (Toronto) and Roarockit Skateboard Company (Toronto).
Kevin lives in Barrie Ontario Canada and is well known for building one off radial drop downhill race boards. Kevin is an avid racer and promoter of outlaw downhill races in the Barrie area. Kevin at times is an in house Roarockit builder and is represented by Longboard Living (Toronto, Canada)
It is great to be associated with the long board making community when there are individuals like Everett McCord….aka..TWITCH. Everett’s homegrown company NIGHT SKATEBOARDS
Erika Fletcher uses marquetry to enhance some great deck designs. She lives in Brighton UK.
Craig Morrisson at the TDSB, teaches students at the Oasis Alternative Secondary School in Toronto Canada. Over the last number of years Craig has developed a great program called the Oasis Skateboard Factory.
Founder Steve Larosiliere, along with Co-founder, Sal Masekela believed that the courage and perseverance needed to learn action sports would be an ideal way to teach those life skills to at –risk and disadvantaged youth.

I met Jesse while he was in Toronto at the Harbourfront Center. He was invited to do a talk about homegrown. . During his talk it was obvious Jesse is all about keeping it local.
LONGBOARD COLLECTIVE Hanover High School
Being a teacher I was particularly interested in the Longboard Collective 4 day deckbuilding course. Their decks were built using solid wood, cut and shaped into beautiful cruisers. KevinLavign says the event will be run for a second year, this March. Their blog and website is full of great pictures and information about the build.
